FORENSIC MAPPING & SCENE DIAGRAMMING

Notice: Dennis Payne has retired from active expert witness practice. This page reflects the scope of services historically provided. Read the Retirement Announcement.
Forensic Arts’ mapping and scene diagramming work incorporated Total Station forensic mapping and 3D laser scanning systems to accurately document physical evidence and roadway properties.

All reconstructions and documentation were supported by advanced training in these systems, including recognition within the Professional Society of Forensic Mapping.

Data collected through Total Station and 3D laser scanning technologies was used to produce highly detailed and accurate scene diagrams. These diagrams included roadway geometry, impact evidence, post-collision positioning, and a variety of reconstruction and time-distance relationships.

Diagram outputs were developed in multiple formats, including aerial views, contour profiles, and scaled visual representations suitable for technical analysis, reporting, and courtroom presentation.

These systems were also used to document and analyze vehicle damage profiles, supporting detailed evaluation in collision reconstruction and crush analysis.

All diagramming was completed using industry-standard AutoCAD formats, allowing for efficient data exchange between parties and integration into forensic animations and visual presentations.
